Hello I accidently deleted Minecraft from my computer and now each time I try to redownload I get an error from Microsoft. I have run through a million and one possible fixes for the error code it is spitting at me but to no avail. I have thought about doing a system restore but that will mess with some of my work files and set ups that I have so I am really trying to avoid that. Has anyone gone through this issue lately? I have made sure that I am signed into my Microsoft account when trying to download and done some reformatting along with many other suggestions for the error code. Error 0x80070005
When do you get the error code exactly? Is it when you are downloading? Or when you are trying to execute it?
I believe you need to go to minecraft.net Login with your Windows login Then you can click on GET MINECRAFT at the top right of the page and download the game. This is the java version which is what the Sandlot uses. Hope this helps. If you need more details let me know or I'm sure there are videos out there that show you.
This is the direct download link for the official Minecraft installer. No login required. https://launcher.mojang.com/download/MinecraftInstaller.msi
Hi Gruffsmom. Hopefully the answers above have helped. If not, I found something else you could try. I searched Error 0x80070005 Minecraft and found a Microsoft Answers forum post that appeared to have a fix. I’m copying in what they said to do. Good luck! Spoiler: Clean MC reinstall strategy Well, I had the same issue, tried everything in this thread with no luck, in the end, here is what helped me and I haven't seen this anywhere, so I thought I'd jot it down, may be it helps others. I uninstalled the launcher from Windows Settings - Add or remove programs. Deleted all files in the folder C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\ and did a fresh install from the Xbox app. It magically worked! I did the same a few times before with the MS Store, didn't help there. I'm pretty sure the uninstall PLUS deleting those files helped, because I tried already once to uninstall the launcher and install it from the Xbox App. The only difference this time was the folder I cleaned out. Also, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I tried for hours to solve this with the MS Store, the new thing today was that I installed the Xbox App and started the whole installation from there. Still don't know what the main reason was, in the above mentioned folder I checked the log files and had seen some errors about profile, so may be something is messed up with my profile in the MS store which then was transferred to the launcher when I started the installation from there, cleaning that info from the folder and having a clean and working install of the Xbox app, starting the installation clean from there might be the explanation... you never know.
Be careful deleting your .minecraft folder. That has all your single player worlds, resource packs, screenshots, and mods in it. Mojang and Microsoft have really made a mess by having two different launchers installed two different ways that have different game support for each.
I had another idea GruffsMom--if following the instructions above still doesn't work, maybe it would be possible to make a date with one of the folks on here who really knows what they're talking about (not me unfortunately, I'm just a researcher who uses Mac), and do a conversation back and forth on forums in more-or-less realtime, to troubleshoot how it goes with the reinstall. It could be almost like a tech support call, and you could exchange screenshots. I wish I could help more, but I'm just an interested bystander who is sympathetic towards all parents who want to be able to play alongside their kiddos!
