Any "official" guidelines or restrictions planned on spawning the dragon in the End RW? I can see players being killed when they didn't expect it? And, while building permanent structures is discouraged in RW's, there might be unhappy players if there structures get blown apart by the dragon?
No warning in shops as Jk indicated. The comment about Elytra is more of a courtesy for our players because there are not an unlimited supply like most objects in SVS. Let's try to be fair to everyone in the beginning days and not horde them for ourselves. That said, I understand that each time you kill the dragon, a new End gateway to a new city area is created. Each city area can potentially have boats in the cities and thereby having Elytras in them. We should be able to spawn a dragon, kill it and go into the newly created gateway. If this all works out, the number of Elytra will increase significantly. We just have to do a lot of dragon battles. If this does work, then you will be should be able to "farm" them to sell to other players who do not have the skills necessary to go get them themselves. Lets start out the weekend and see how it goes. If we find we can get huge numbers of Elytra , then selling them actually helps those that can't get them on their own. Sound OK?
We have not put together any official guidelines yet. However the resource world is for just that purpose of mining and taking resources such as. Mining blocks form citys (and getting the Elytra) mining obsidian from the towers. (They respawn new every time a dragon is spawned) Getting dragon eggs The main End island is where the dragon is spawned, so players mining at the End cities will be unaffected. The issue will be players entering the resource world End and being surprised that a dragon is being fought. Maybe the players who spawned the dragon died and cannot now kill it. To me thats part of the hard mode of SVS. We could build a small spawn house for players to run to that could possibly be protected against damage. We will have to discuss and think about the options. Keep the discussions going with ideas and we can decide on how to manage the new resource world End.
Thanks, understood and appreciated. I asked because, for many people (well OK, for me specifically, since I'm missing this Saturday ), the goal will be to get some dragon's breath to level up. In this case, you don't even have to defeat the dragon, and I may or may not be capable of it. So, it's likely that I might just run into End RW, spawn a dragon, fill a couple of bottles with breath, try for a little bit to kill the dragon, realize it's hopeless with my abilities, and just leave. I would feel very bad if an unsuspecting player then went to End RW to get some resources or planned an expedition to find some end cities with the assumption that there was no dragon, and instead got pulverized by the dragon... Out of curiosity, the way the End RW is being generated, with a 'new' RW being spawned, I assume this will mean that each End RW world reset will yield one, and only one, dragon egg? From the wiki:
Yes that is what I will do see how many elytras we find and determine how many I can take without hurting others ability to find them.
Yes, that's correct. Also, about this weekend--I think it would be a very good idea for a moderator to enter The End to build out the obsidian platform and make it safe to get to the main island. With the stupid new entity collision thing added in 1.9, if we all went into the portal at the same time, everyone would push each other off into the void.
OK, did anyone else find that image twistedly amusing? Video of it would have been awesome. [Cue dramatic music]Presenting... The End! Welcome! aaaahhhh, aaahhhhh, aahhhhhhh
Yes you can and if you break them they have a broken form where you can't use them then you can repair them with leather. (at at last I think there is a broken form)
No, they'll just break if their durability is used. You can repair them with leather before they break.
I would be love to part of the assault team to take down end dragon once and for all! I am also hungry for the xp...
@c0wg0d , last time I checked, the obsidian spawn area was enclosed...we might suffocate, or all become pancakes...
Sounds super fun, and I hope everyone who gets to go has a blast! I (of course haha) am away that weekend, so I won't be attending
