I've taken to using shaders again, as I find they look nice. The one I have gravitated to is Complementary Shaders, however, there are some questions about the available settings I would like some clarification on. My main problems are with 2 settings. One setting allows torches being held to emit light, removing the need to place many torches down when mining. The other problem resides with a setting allowing visible ores to glow. This is not X-Ray, it does not show ores underground, only those visible to the player otherwise. Are these settings allowed to be on, or do I need to turn them off? I would provide screenshots of all the menus, but there are too many and would probably lag out most computers. I have instead provided the menu for Ore Glow, and hover text for some of the options. Spoiler: Menu Screenshot (LARGE)
I've got this torch setting on too, the ore thing shouldn't be a problem unless it allows you to see ores others cannot. Maybe you can show a picture of how the ore glow looks here?
Torches (and other light emitting blocks/items) giving off light without needing to be placed is a feature in Optifine, as well.
I don't really have a problem with this. Someone with really keen eyes would be able to see ores without shaders too. However, I do think your example is as far as we would allow. For example, the shaders/texture pack in the following image is not something I would be okay with anyone using on The Sandlot.
